Earlier this morning, a helicopter installed the beginning of our new observation platform. After a powerful storm limited our Skywalk to 10 bridges, this middle platform will restore the full function of the canopy by the end of August. Take a look at our progress here.
On April 23, 2020 a powerful storm swept through the park with winds exceeding 100 mph causing 8 trees to fall. Of the 8 trees, 3 impacted the skywalk causing damage to a tree supporting a platform. Anakeesta has been working with the skywalk builder to make repairs throughout the spring and summer. Currently 10 of the 16 bridges can be accessed and enjoyed by guests. “Our guests love the Treetop Skywalk,” said Michele Canney, VP of Marketing. “We are so excited to not only repair the bridge but to improve the guest experience with a larger observation platform and eventually a 2-story treehouse structure where families can climb and enjoy the bird’s eye view of the forest floor below.”
